Chat GPT Delves Into Mold?
When this idea first came to me, I asked Chat GPT to generate a devotional example text based on an odd passage of scripture. It did not disappoint. It was so intriguing that I thought, well, anything is possible if Chat can create a devotional off of one verse about mold! - Right?
Don’t worry. If you’re offended or put-off by an AI-generated devotional read, this will be the only one I use Chat for and post. I was just curious what it would spit out as an example! So, without further ado, here is what Chat spit out in a nano-th of a second:
Title: “God Said What?!”
Day 7: Mildew and Mold and the Presence of God
Verse: “If mildew reappears in the house after the stones have been torn out and the house scraped and plastered, the priest must go and examine it.” —Leviticus 14:43–44
Let’s be honest: if you’ve ever skimmed Leviticus, you probably didn’t expect a full-blown home inspection manual. And yet here we are—God giving Israel instructions for how to deal with recurring mildew. Yes, mildew. Holy, Spirit-breathed mold removal tips.
What’s the deal?
At first glance, this reads like the ancient version of calling your landlord. But behind the bleach and scraping lies something deeply theological: God cared about the little corners. About what grew in the dark places. About contamination that could quietly spread if left alone.
Leviticus is often viewed as tedious or overly detailed. But in its rules, God is forming a people who are attentive, clean, holy, and who don’t ignore what’s quietly rotting.
So here’s the question: What in your life looks small but might be slowly spreading?
A bit of bitterness? A little compromise? A “justified” grudge or a quiet habit you’ve let hang around?
God doesn’t just call us to sweep those things under the rug. He steps into even the musty corners of our lives and says: Let’s deal with this. I’m still with you. I care even here.
And like mildew, grace also spreads. Thank God for that.
Prayer:
Lord, search the corners of my heart. Help me not to ignore what’s quietly growing where it shouldn’t be. Cleanse me, not just in the obvious places, but in the overlooked ones too. You’re welcome even in the mildew.
